Collaborative Portfolio 6: Article.
Learning languages
Don’t you want to know about a foreign language? 1)Are you wondering how to speak another language? I have your solution!
Firstly you should 2) practice in class even with your partners and with your teacher, only then can you correct any mistake. You should do the homework and study hard all the new vocabulary you learn in class, and as a consequence 3)will you incorporate all the knowledge.
Secondly, you should try to listen and 4) sing music in another language, or watch a movie without subtitles. Try repeating some phrases or important words to yourself. Only then, should you improve your knowledge about the language you are studying.
What about some personal experience? Remember that must be included!
I hope that you can find in this article the best way to learn a foreign language and I invite you to share your experience through an article like I did. You will not regret it!
1) careful with the tense!
2) spelling / grammar
3) word order
4) think of a different collocation

Dear Sir: (Punctuation!)
I would like to apply for the position of lifeguards (plural?) assistant which I saw advertised in the New York Times newspaper.
I am 18 years old. At present I am a student at University of Buenos Aires. I am a good swimmer because I had been training (tense) a lot of (informal!) years for swimming competitions. For the last two years I have been studying at Santa Teresa School. When I was a child I used to dream being a beach lifeguard assistant.
(extra information!!)
I feel I would be suitable for the job since I had worked (tense) as a lifeguard at Miami Beach and also as a (grammar) instructor for 3 years at a Swimming Club in London.
When I was a high school student, I participated in an international swimming competition, which I won, therefore I consider myself TO BE a good swimmer. I am also a very enthusiastic and responsible employee, apart from an extrovert person.
I hope you will consider my application. I would be grateful to attend an interview during the next week if it is possible. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

That day, my life changed forever. Being a 28 years old young man who suffers from vertigo wasn’t a good combination. Especially if that person (me) walked along the Great Wall of China to raise money for our local hospital. But that amazing experience changed my point of view extraordinarily.
At the beginning, I was terrified of making that trip. However, my best friend finally convinced me. When we arrived there, we walked 10 km until we got to the first stop, where we camped. In spite of my fear of heights, the view was wonderful and the sky was clear so we could see the shining stars. Next day, I was exhausted but we did 20 km more. My friend advised me not to look down when we were walking. Luckily, I didn’t do it though I felt nervous.
The following days, I started to enjoy the trip. The weather helped us to continue walking though the wall of China and we walked 15km through it.
We felt bad, but we finally walked the last 15 km. Weather didn’t help us and we didn’t have any supplies, so it was terrible. When we arrived to the end of the walk and the organiser carry us to a hospital.
After it all was over, I really was amazed about the trip because we could help and collect funds for the Hospital.

That day, my life changed forever. I'm a doctor at Trinidad Hospital and one day I was walking along halls and I saw an advertisement about a walking to collect founds for a China hospital, or it would close .That was when with some doctors we realised that we need to help.
Luckily we could go and have a 6- day trip to the Great wall of China, but unfortunately in the middle we had no supplies so we decided to ask for help to native people. The problem was, that we couldn’t understand them because they spoke Chinese. Fortunately one of them saw that we couldn’t understand what they were saying, and told us that he knew how to speak English, so he carried us to his tribe and brought us some food and water.
After that he told us that he could join us in our walking through the end of our trip.
Finally we arrived to the end and count the donations, they had collected $100.000 for the hospital. They were very happy to found the solution to the hospital problems and that’s how they save the Chinese hospital.
The end.

That day, my life changed forever. It all began when I saw an advertisement from the local children's hospital asking for volunteers for taking part in a six-day walk along 90km of the Great Wall of China to raise money. I thought that joining the cause was a great idea since I had been trying to stay in shape. As soon as I got there, I saw a lot of volunteers from all ages.
During the fourth day, we had to stop the walk because an old man was trying to jump from the wall. Altough a lot of people tried to stop him from doing it, he didn't listen and jumped anyway. While one of the guides called the rescue team, we all looked for the old man from where we were. Then, when the rescue team arrived, they threw ropes all over the wall and started the search inside the forest that surrounded the wall, where they expected to find the old man.
Altough we were told to go back, I got together with a nurse from the hospital and we stole some ropes and secretly followed the rescue team. It felt risky and dangerous, but at the same time I felt that we were doing the right thing.
As we started following the ropes we could find the old man trapped in a hole, he was so scared that he started to scream for help, fortunately the rescue team arrived on time and saved the old man from a horrible ending.
Finally, we got back and raised the funds for the hospital.
it is an experience that I will never forget!

Dear sir or madam
My name is Melisa and I am the secretary of the college Science Club. I am writing to ask for some information because I am interested in organising a group visit.
I wonder if you could tell me if it is necessary the booking for groups and how much time in advance we need for it. I would also like to know if there is available a picnic space or a snack bar because we will be coming for the whole day.
Our group is quite large so I would like to know if there is any limit of students because we are 70 people. I wonder if there is any discount for a numerous group.
I look forward to hearing for your answer.
